Beautiful, custom-made veneers are a long-term and natural-looking solution for misshapen, chipped, discoloured, and crooked teeth.

Dental veneers are ultra-thin shells that are bonded to the front surface of your teeth. They’re one of the most versatile cosmetic dental treatments available, able to address a wide range of aesthetic concerns in just a few appointments.

What are porcelain veneer benefits

  • No one will notice they are not your real teeth.
  • Can last between 10-15 years.

How treatment improves your teeth

  • Covers surface stains.
  • Improves the overall shade of your front top and bottom teeth.
  • Improves the symmetry of your smile.
  • Protects your teeth against further erosion.

Bespoke treatment for your smile

We use digital workflow and planning systems to create a mock-up of how your smile will look after treatment. Every detail will be considered when designing your veneer, and during your consultation, we will discuss your treatment objectives and what you like and dislike about your teeth.

Your veneers treatment journey at Knighton Dental

We believe the path to a great smile should feel as comfortable and reassuring as the result itself. Here’s what to expect when you choose veneers at our Leicester practice:

  • Free consultation: We start by getting to know you. We’ll listen to what you like and dislike about your smile, discuss your goals, and recommend the most suitable type of veneer for you.
  • Digital smile planning: Using our digital workflow and 3D scanning technology, we create a digital mock-up of how your smile will look after treatment. You’ll be able to see your expected results before any treatment begins, so you feel completely confident before we proceed.
  • Tooth preparation and temporary veneers: For porcelain veneers, a small, precise amount of enamel is gently removed from the tooth surface. We’ll then fit you with comfortable temporary veneers while your custom porcelain veneers are crafted in our partner laboratory.
  • Fitting your veneers: Once your veneers are ready, we bond them securely to your teeth using a strong dental adhesive. We check the fit, colour, and bite carefully.
  • Aftercare and follow-up: We’ll give you everything you need to care for your veneers at home, and we’re always here if you have any questions after your treatment.

Before and After Dental Veneers

FAQs

How long do teeth veneers last?

Composite veneers typically last 5 to 7 years, while porcelain veneers can last anywhere from 10 to 15 years, and sometimes 20 years or more with excellent care. The longevity of your veneers depends on the material chosen, your daily oral hygiene routine, and whether you avoid habits like teeth grinding or biting hard objects.

What happens to my natural teeth under veneers?

Your natural teeth remain alive and functional beneath the veneer. For porcelain veneers, a very small amount of enamel is permanently removed to create space: this is why veneers are considered an irreversible treatment. A well-fitted veneer actually acts as a protective layer for the front surface of your tooth. It’s still important to maintain regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups to keep the surrounding tooth structure healthy.

Is there a downside to veneers?

The main cons of dental veneers are the irreversible removal of tooth enamel, significant cost, the need for eventual replacement, potential tooth sensitivity, and that veneers are not suitable for everyone or for severe dental issues. Veneers are a permanent decision because enamel cannot be regrown, they need to be maintained and eventually replaced, and can be damaged by habits like teeth grinding. You can read more about veneers in one of our article: https://www.knightondental.co.uk/guide-to-dental-veneers-leicester/

Are veneers painful to get?

No, the veneer placement process is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you won’t feel any discomfort during the procedure. After treatment, some patients experience mild, temporary tooth sensitivity or slight gum tenderness, particularly if multiple veneers have been fitted, but this usually settles within a few days and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relief.

Can you go back to normal teeth after veneers?

No, you cannot go back to your original, “normal” teeth after getting veneers because a small amount of enamel is permanently removed from the natural teeth to make space for them. This enamel loss is irreversible, meaning your teeth will remain more vulnerable, potentially more sensitive, and will always need some form of restoration to maintain their structure and appearance.

Do I need to brush veneers differently?

Veneers should be brushed just like your natural teeth: twice daily, using a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste. Avoid whitening toothpastes, which can be too abrasive and may dull the surface over time. Regular flossing and routine dental check-ups remain essential for keeping your veneers, and your overall oral health, in great condition.

How much is 1 tooth veneer?

The cost of a single tooth veneer in the UK usually ranges between £300 and £1,500, depending on the material and the level of treatment required. Composite veneers tend to be more affordable, while porcelain and Emax options offer premium aesthetics and durability.

At Knighton Dental Clinic, we use only the highest quality materials, and all of our dentists have extensive experience in cosmetic dentistry. Our veneers start from £875, reflecting the precision, craftsmanship, and personalised care that go into every treatment.

Are veneers suitable for everyone?

Veneers are suitable for most adults with good general oral health. They’re not typically recommended for patients with active tooth decay, gum disease, or significant teeth grinding (bruxism) without first addressing those issues. During your consultation, Dr Himesh will assess your suitability and discuss all available options with you honestly.
