Understand the risks
Many people are venturing abroad following trends such as “Turkey teeth” and do not understand the risks. Many people, however, are not told about the risks involved and aftercare needed.
There are a number of risks to consider before undergoing dental treatment abroad, especially in countries like Turkey, where standards may not be as high as in developed nations. Infection is always a possibility when undergoing any kind of medical procedure. This is no different for dental work. There have also been reports of people being overcharged or treated poorly by staff in some overseas clinics. It is important to do your research and choose a reputable clinic if you are considering dental treatment abroad.
Another risk to consider is that of language barriers. If you do not speak the local language fluently, there is a chance that you may not be able to communicate effectively with your dentist. This could lead to misunderstandings about your treatment plan or aftercare instructions. It is always best to choose a clinic where staff speak your language or have someone who can translate for you.
Finally, remember that dental work is an investment. At the same time, it may be cheaper to have treatment done abroad. There is no guarantee that the work will be of the same quality as what you would receive at home. It is important to weigh up all the risks before making a decision.
